The oil filler neck is a replacement and wear part that should be replaced regularly (every 10,000 km) on older BMW models. A worn or damaged oil filler neck can cause leaks and oil escaping from the oil filler opening. For example, if oil is leaking, the oil filler cap is usually not the problem. The oil filler neck is often pulled out of the cylinder together with the oil filler cap (especially when the oil filler neck is worn). When replacing the oil filler neck, we recommend also replacing the corresponding O-ring (item no. 1340901).
