This on-board socket can only be used for the original BMW wiring harness. It can also be installed instead of an original USB socket to enable the connection of a charger with CAN bus function (for example, article 90018 "Optimate 4 Quad Program charger" for the BMW on-board socket). To do this, the USB socket must be unplugged and removed.
