The new BMW S1000R

2020-12-03 - Dynamic Roadster 2.0

With the new S1000R 2021, BMW is clearly pursuing the agenda of making the roadster with the racing genes of the S1000RR look even more agile and dynamic, and all of that with an empty weight of less than 200 kg and in accordance with the Euro 5 standard.

Against the backdrop of 165 hp at 11,000 rpm and a maximum of 114 Nm at 9,250 rpm, the torque range is wider and the gears four to six have a long gear ratio. This new agility should also have a direct effect on the driving behaviour, thanks to the anti-hopping clutch or, as optional equipment, the engine drag torque control, which stops the rear wheel from slipping off during sudden braking.
Ergonomics and a further reduction in weight is the main thought of making the frame narrower and thus integrating the engine more closely into this construction. The adjustable handlebar clamp offers the rider ergonomic freedom.
The swing arm, adapted from racing, not only saves the tyres, but also increases the S1000R's road grip. This new edition features LED lights. This also applies to the optionally available adaptive turning light and the new lamp mask.
The 6.5-inch TFT display is based on the S1000RR. In addition, a curve ABS, the riding modes "Rain", "Road" or "Dynamic" and the dynamic traction control with anti-wheelie function are announced.
