New models for the R18 family

2021-08-11 - a Bavarian-American symbiosis

BMW Motorrad has already begun to reach out far across the big pond with the R18 standard variant. Now, with the two models R 18 Transcontinental and R 18 B, the Munich-based company presents not only the consistent continuation of this philosophy, but also a considerable plus in long-distance dynamics and touring suitability.
Based on the 1802 cubic centimetres "Big Boxer" engine known from the basic R18 model, you can ride on highways or country roads with 67 kW (91 hp) at 4750 rotations.

The R18 Transcontinental features a front fairing including a large windscreen, wind deflectors and flaps. The cockpit is uncluttered with four analogue round instruments and a 10.25" TFT colour display, which fits in well with the overall appearance of the motorcycle. The loudspeakers of the renowned manufacturer Marshall promise particularly outstanding sound quality on both new models. Of course, additional headlights, panniers, heated seats, top case and a corresponding engine protection must not be missing.

In contrast to the R18 Transcontinental, the R 18 B offers a lower windshield and a narrower seat. Moreover, there is no top case.

The three driving modes "Rain", "Roll" and "Rock" plus the Automatic Stability Control ASC are on board ex works. The customizing scene is likely to be delighted by these variations, as they can, for example, be individualised with a wide range of accessories from the "Option 719" series. Thus, the new R18 models perfectly complete the "Bavarian-American symbiosis".
