The new BMW F450GS

2025-11-10 - The most authentic entry into the GS world yet

With the introduction of the BMW F 450 GS, BMW Motorrad is launching a fully-fledged adventure model for the 48 hp/A2 license class that combines classic GS DNA with modern technology and a compact overall package.

Agility and versatility in focus

This bike has been specifically designed for a low weight of just 178 kg, combined with an output of 35 kW (48 hp) at 8,750 rpm and a maximum torque of 43 Nm at 6,750 rpm.

This makes the F 450 GS ideal for riders who enjoy both on-road and light off-road riding.

The ergonomics are designed for versatility: a high and close-positioned handlebar, a 14-liter fuel tank, and a seat height of 845 mm ensure an upright riding position and secure knee grip both on- and off-road.

Engineering with ambition

At its heart is a newly developed parallel-twin engine with 420 cc, a 135-degree crankpin offset, and just one balance shaft – resulting in a characterful power delivery, smooth operation, and a modern design with minimal internal friction.

The chassis features a tubular steel frame integrating the engine as a load-bearing element, a 43 mm upside-down telescopic fork at the front, and a hollow-cast aluminum dual swingarm with a central spring strut at the rear.

In the “Sport” and “GS Trophy” trims, a sport suspension is included with adjustable rebound and compression damping – ideal for more ambitious off-road or sporty riding.

The braking system includes a high-quality 310 mm single front disc with a four-piston fixed caliper (by Brembo) and a 240 mm rear disc – combined with standard ABS Pro, including cornering ABS, Dynamic Brake Control (DBC), and engine drag torque control (MSR).

Comfort, connectivity & equipment

The standard equipment package leaves nothing to be desired: LED main headlight with distinctive “X”-shaped daytime running light, a large 6.5-inch TFT display with smartphone integration, and a USB-C port in the cockpit area.

The standard riding modes “Rain,” “Road,” and “Enduro” are included – with the “Exclusive” trim adding the “Enduro Pro” mode, which, among other things, allows rear ABS deactivation for off-road use.

A special feature: the “Easy Ride Clutch” (ERC) – an advanced centrifugal clutch, standard on the GS Trophy variant and available as an accessory for all other versions. In combination with the optional Shift Assistant Pro, manual clutch operation can be omitted when desired.

Style & model overview

Visually, the F 450 GS adopts the typical GS design language. The model range is divided into four variants:

Base in Cosmic Black

Exclusive, also in Cosmic Black, featuring off-road footrests, hand guards, plastic engine guard, clear windscreen, riding modes Pro, and Quickshifter Pro

Sport in Racing Red with sport suspension and further upgrades

GS Trophy in Racing Blue metallic with rally windscreen, aluminum engine guard, and ERC as standard

With the F 450 GS, BMW Motorrad offers a motorcycle aimed at those who don’t just want an entry-level bike, but a true GS experience in a compact form. Riders who value agility, off-road capability, advanced technology, and iconic GS styling will find a model here that makes virtually no compromises – despite its A2 license classification.
