The new BMW M 1000 RS

2026-11-03 - The most powerful hyper naked bike in the world

The new BMW M 1000 RS brings the uncompromising technology of the M 1000 RR to the Hyper Naked bike segment. At its heart is the inline four-cylinder engine known from the M 1000 RR, delivering its full 218 hp in the M 1000 RS. Combined with a DIN unladen weight of just 196 kilograms, this results in an exceptional power-to-weight ratio. The M 1000 RS is designed to offer not only breathtaking acceleration, but also the direct and agile handling typical of a naked bike. BMW states a 0–100 km/h acceleration time of 3.2 seconds and a top speed of 283 km/h.

Technically, the M 1000 RS is based on the M 1000 R with M Competition Package, but has been consistently further developed with a focus on even sportier handling. A 20-millimetre higher seat position and the footrest system from the M 1000 RR create a more front-oriented riding position. This is intended to give the rider an even more direct connection with the motorcycle and provide greater control and feedback, particularly during sporty riding. At the same time, the fundamental concept of a Hyper Naked bike remains intact: plenty of power, direct responses and an immediate riding experience without the fairing of a conventional superbike.

BMW also focuses on consistent lightweight construction and racing technology when it comes to the components. Equipment includes an M full-titanium exhaust system, M Carbon wheels and numerous other carbon components. The matt M Carbon winglets with RS lettering are not only a striking visual feature, but also serve an aerodynamic purpose. At the rear, BMW uses components from the M 1000 RR. The sporty appearance is complemented by a brushed aluminium fuel tank and a seat with an Alcantara-style finish and RS embroidery.

The standard equipment also makes it clear that the M 1000 RS is designed with performance in mind. It includes features such as Riding Modes Pro, Dynamic Damping Control, Gearshift Assistant Pro, M Short-Stroke Throttle, M Track Package, M brake system, heated grips, cruise control and Keyless Ride. BMW thus combines a consistently sporty character with equipment that is also intended to make the motorcycle appealing for everyday road use.

Visually, the M 1000 RS makes a particularly dark and exclusive statement. Powerful proportions, matt carbon surfaces, new graphics and the brushed aluminium fuel tank are intended to emphasise the motorcycle's distinctive character. At the same time, the “RS” designation refers to BMW Motorrad's racing heritage. Among other things, it recalls historic models such as the RS 255 Kompressor and RS 54, while the M 1000 RS is intended to demonstrate the link between racing technology and a modern road motorcycle.

The strict production limit adds to the exclusivity: only 1,000 units of the BMW M 1000 RS will be built worldwide. In Germany, the model is scheduled to be available from BMW Motorrad dealers from March 2027. The price is €40,000 including VAT. BMW is therefore positioning the M 1000 RS not only as an exceptionally powerful Hyper Naked bike, but also as an exclusive M model for customers looking to combine maximum performance with a distinctive and uncompromising appearance.
