New special issue about BMW motorcycles BMW is rediscovering itself: Around 45 years ago, BMW invented the touring enduro. With the new R 12 G/S – now with the slash back in its name – BMW is going back to basics. Tested on the road and in light terrain in issue no. 94.
It's a veritable test fest in issue no. 94. The R 1300 R roadster and the R 1300 RT super tourer are both extensively tested, as are the R 12 S, which looks like the R 90 S from 50 years ago, and the R 18 cruiser with the Big Boxer engine, which, starting with this model year, has a larger rear wheel for better roadholding.
Also compared are the two inline twin models, the F 900 R and F 900 XR, the new Bridgestone T33 tire with its enormous range of uses, and new shock absorbers for the R 1300 GS from the WESA modular system from Wilbers Suspension.
On the road, the editorial team followed the rather dusty traces of the TET in Spain and Portugal as well as the traces of the First World War between Italy and Austria on the Kaiserjägerstraße.
