The K1200RS / K1200GT models (1997-2005) are known as sport-capable tourers – but the stock seats are often too hard, too narrow, or uncomfortable on longer rides. A targeted seat conversion from Hornig addresses this: we increase comfort, optimise your seating position and reduce fatigue – for more control, relaxed riding and enhanced safety.
For your BMW K1200RS / K1200GT we use high-quality, weather-resistant and slip-resistant cover materials. Additionally, we provide variants with contrast stitching, colour accents or custom embroidery to combine appearance and function optimally. (e.g. the conversion for K1200RS & GT typically uses a black, non-slip synthetic leather as standard.)
Depending on the seat construction (e.g. whether the cover is removable) and the desired conversion (height change, padding, heating etc.), the effort varies. A typical total duration is about 2 weeks including shipping and return shipping.
These series combine sporty performance with tourer ambitions. In practice, however, many riders suffer from pressure points, uncomfortable load distribution or restricted freedom of movement. With a custom-fitted seat you benefit from noticeably better pressure distribution, a more relaxed seating position especially in city traffic and on long rides, and improved control in corners. Long-distance riders and tourers in particular will feel the difference clearly.
Yes – for conversion, re-covering or heating retrofit we need your existing seat so that we can precisely adapt shape, mounting points and contours.
The entire process – including shipping and return shipping – usually takes about 2 weeks. Once all details are clarified, you will receive a firm timeframe.
Many of our customers report significantly reduced pressure points, less numbness, a more relaxed seating posture, more stable support in corners and a more secure stance at stops – all without losing the sporty-elegant character of your K1200RS / K1200GT (1997-2005).
